This book started out as a Holos lecture by the same title which I gave as part of the Holos Project on 24th May 2021. There was so much left to explore, so many more questions asked then answered, and so the lecture became an essay and the essay soon became a book.
I also began to appreciate yet once more the holographic nature of my work. The Alchemy of Wholeness is deeply connected to my series of six essays entitled The Way of the Fool, five of which I wrote in 2020. It was in the process of conceiving of the concluding essay to the series when a conversation with Dr Claudius van Wyk led me to describing to him the idea behind its initial title Agents of the Edge. The idea was that human experience happens at the emerging edge of the universe as part of that universe and as part of its emergence. Human experience is not something separate to it with the edge of the universe somewhere far away. Being able to perceive ourselves on the edge of the universe both marks us out as an individual with our particular quality of this experience, our subjectivity, and also connects us with everything else with which we share the edge of the emerging universe, our intersubjectivity.
